“C. U. there!” … See you at the “credit union”! A good alternative to the “monster banks”… along with some discount brokerage firms. Cheers!

Freegan: A play on the word “vegan.” A person who includes “free” items in their diet and generally in their lives. This can include, but is not limited to, dumpster diving, foraging, etc.. The term “freegan” has been around for several years and is a useful one for “Clarkies.”

“Y’all Street” - A fun name for the grouping of financial firms in and around Dallas-Ft. Worth. An appealing term that’s been around a while.

“Get started.” — Dreaded words when you click on something… thinking it’s “one click”… and you’re just “getting started.”

“Rewards chaser” — Someone who spends (often too much) time and effort “chasing” airline mile bonuses, etc. An oldie but useful term.

“City mouse.” A fun term I heard Clark use for a small, “around town” car. A bigger car for road trips and for haulin’ stuff is of course… a “country mouse.” 🙂 Thanks, Clark.

“Get it done before they retire.” A thought on the minds of many as their favorite accountant, builder, plumber, or electrician, etc… nears retirement. Whatever project you’re considering… better “get it done” before they retire.

1. “Roof rats” 2. “Storm chasers” —

Shady “roofers” who offer to reroof your house. Abuses can include: 1. Running off with your initial payment. 2. Coaxing the homeowner into filing a perhaps unneeded insurance claim, resulting in higher premiums or possible insurance cancellation.

P.S., there are many honest roofers who don’t engage in such abuses. Cheers, Clarkies!

F.I.R.E — (alternative definition). Normally means Financial Independence, Retire Early. But… sometimes can mean… Fired Inexplicably, (guess he’ll be) Retiring Early.

“Roth-Maxxing” — Contributing the “max” allowable to your Roth IRA. Sounds a bit like “Looks-Maxxing” … the online trend of 20-somethings posting their hacks to “max” out their appearance. Well, Clarkies might do “looks-maxxing,” but they also do Roth-Maxxing. 🙂

“Volun-beer”: Folks who will “volunteer” for just about any project … as long as there’s free beer for those helping. A closely related notion… If a friend comes over to your place to help work on your car — or any DIY project — it is \*expected\* that you will have cold beer ready. 🙂

“J.T. Ross” — The mystery joint account “co-owner.” LOL. When I worked at a financial firm, we would get calls from customers — who had just gotten their statements in the mail — asking who is this … “J.T. Ross” listed on their account? Yup… it was actually JT WROS. Meaning Joint Tenants With Rights of Survivorship. A very common form of joint account. For instance, John Smith and Mary Smith, JT WROS. 🙂

P.S., in keeping with the “looks maxxing” fad, Roth maxxing most likely is correctly styled with a dobule “x.”

Tech-cation. A much needed “tech-free” vacation. A break not just from technology and “devices,” but from all of the “gotchas” big tech is so enamored with.

“Condi-milking,” Condi-maxxing." — “Milking” the free condiments provided, especially at Costco. For instance, you can slather a ton of relish on your hot dog. Or you can “next level” and put relish, brown mustard, etc. on your chef’s salad, etc. 🙂

“Shock drop” — A term Clark uses for a possible sudden drop in the stock market. An oldie but goodie term: “JOMO.” The Joy Of Missing Out… for instance, on a sudden stock market drop. JOMO also refers to relief during a “vacation” from depressing news media, stock market banter, and constant tech device interaction.

“Unbundling” — Airline industry speak for charging separately for the basics of service. …“Nickel and dime-ing” the passengers.
